History of the Little Mill Inn
There has been a mill on this site since 1605 but the present waterside inn was built in 1781 as a candlewick mill.

The lower floor consisted of a public house and shop which supplied local workers and surrounding mills with food and refreshment.

The original mill-wheel was lost when the building that accomodated it was swept away. The black and white photo's on this page were taken before and after the great flood in 1930.( Click the pictures for larger copies)
